What Spencer's employees say about their job

  • Best thing

I get along with all of my coworkers, it's a fairly easy job with a good amount of responsibility and benefits. It's LGBTQ-friendly and continues to stock inclusive items.

    Worst thing

It's become a lot more about numbers and making the company money just within the past few years of working there. They used to give us more free merch, and it honestly just used to be more fun. I wish everyone got paid more; while I think Spencer's pays better than some other retail companies, all of my coworkers and I live with family because we can't afford to live elsewhere.

    Worst thing

The pay and the hours are horrible

    4.1

Sales associate at Spencer's, February 2025

  • Best thing

The in store staff are great, my location is slow sometimes so I'd there's no tasks we can enjoy ourselves.

    Worst thing

If a manager is bad/terrible nothing is done about it unless they are stealing. Higher ups don't terminate bad managers because of the paperwork. (Unless HR steps in) they put a lot of pressure for sales and we were denied a raise because of it. (Which is out of our control in a dying mall)

    3.9

  • Best thing

My coworkers' level of respect and understanding of myself and each other.

    Worst thing

The people who work higher up in the company (above DMs) don't understand how ANYTHING in the store works but try to be very demanding with how exact everything needs to be at all times.
