    Housekeeper at Hilton, February 2025

  • Best thing

We can travel all over the world with $50 hotel rooms. Business is steady enough to make reliable tips. We have good products to sell.

    Worst thing

We are paid $5/hour. We are chronically understaffed which is stressful for operations. There is no investment in employees for learning new skills or upward mobility. Security at the hotel is a joke. Management does not care about us as people and will not communicate about safety or even ask how we're doing (we suffered terrorist attacks, hurricanes, gun violence). The health insurance offered is not good and changes providers constantly making it impossible to get reliable care. Facilities are outdated.

    6.1

    Bartender at Hilton, February 2025

  • Best thing

Free shift meals every shift, some flexibility with scheduling if you’re in school or have a second job etc and can’t be scheduled certain days or times during each week.

    Worst thing

Management and coworkers are mean and catty. If you have a complaint or need to take some time off for any personal issues like family emergencies, grief etc the conversation you have with management is not in confidence, they will repeat everything you’ve said to everyone else you work with.
The scheduling is bad, our schedules are 1 week, the first day of the week being Monday and the last being Sunday. Most of the time the schedule for the next week isn’t posted until Sunday night so you only have like 8-12 hours of notice to find out whether you’re working the next day or not.
Unprofessional management name calls employees, spreads gossip about employees etc and there is no one to complain to because all of the levels of management do it. If you complain, they’ll spread it around and retaliate against you, and all the levels of management have each others backs.
The hours can be bad, when the management doesn’t like someone instead of firing them or laying them off, they just stop giving you any shifts/hours, forcing you to quit because you can’t live off of 0 hours a week. They do this instead of firing or laying people off because they want to avoid having to pay into unemployment of the employee, since if you quit your job, you don’t qualify for unemployment benefits.
