Best thing
I work with the most wonderful group of people I have ever met. Everybody gets along with each other, many pairs of people are friends outside of work, our manager stands up for us and treats everyone with kindness and respect. We are provided lunches during meetings, and have a "staff appreciation week" once a year where the doctors and our manager make us lunch every day, we go on "staff outings" every once in a while to fun places.
Worst thing
Working in a large corporation means that the very top will never seen the work you do or how exactly your clinic runs. The computer system we use to do all of our work has many issues that cause problems on a daily basis. This system does not get updates, the issues are completely ignored and we just need to put up with it. Furthermore, veterinary assistants and veterinary technicians do not make a livable wage despite doing one of the most difficult jobs. It is physically demanding and emotionally demanding, and has a extremely high suicide-rate. We need medical training and knowledge, a healthy mind and body, effective communication skills, and professionalism with clients, but I earn barely above minimum wage. This is not a minimum-effort kind of job where minimum pay is warranted. It's an extremely difficult and taxing job.

Understaffed and often they don’t ask for anyone to come in if there is a call out leaving those still working stressed.
Boarding is responsible for the laundry of the entire hospital all while having to care for their own pets and doing medications, computer work (booking appointments, speaking to owners about concerns, doing boarding intakes and discharges, walks, cleaning, etc). And most of the other staff does not like it or will walk away if we ask for help. Such as getting a pet a controlled drug or administering insulin which boarding staff cannot do. Other departments have a specific person for each of these tasks.
