What are baristas saying about pay at Starbucks?
-
Best thing
Benefits are good and the pay is hard to beat for a retail position
Worst thing
Employee morale is low company wide, corporate makes decisions against partner best interests to cut costs.

Best thing
Benefits, pay, and coworkers
Worst thing
Stress, it’s hard to get time off, can’t call in sick ever due to no coverage for management(much easier at entry level) gossip
Supervisor at Starbucks, June 2025
-
Best thing
You can pick up shifts at other stores to really suit the amount of hours you want. Most of the baristas are super friendly.
Worst thing
It can be a super taxing job. The customers can be super rude and it is a lot of memorization. The menu is constantly updating. Policies are changing without an increase in pay for new responsibilities. Scheduling is an issue because due to callouts or them not scheduling correctly it is expected for us to cover it rather than our boss trying to come help.

Best thing
The people we work with and the customers we see on a daily basis and the pay
Worst thing
The rude customers and some people that take advantage of the system and do less work for the same pay

Best thing
Good pay and decent tips
Worst thing
The customers are usually really rude, every store ive gone to ALWAYS has some kind of drama and has a label like “the drama store”, no one enjoys their job and we’re defintely not paid enought for what happens behind the scenes
