Best thing
Free drinks and 50% discount on food is pretty nice. Tips are okay. Its not necessarily the hardest job if everything is done correctly, IE staffing.
Worst thing
Customers are rude and inconsiderate, they will waste your time taking FOREVER to order and will have zero manners. A lot of them don't even tip at all, even with large orders. You will come across some of THE DUMBEST people, you will feel disgusted that you breathe the same air as them. Upper management, AKA District and Regional managers are also INCREDIBLY out of touch and naggy. They will change operations for no good reason, often making conditions more difficult. They clearly have zero idea what they're talking about when they change or create arbitrary rules and conditions. They will quite literally never stop demanding things of you, no matter how hard you try. Even if you make a lot of improvements, they won't do anything to make you feel recognized for it. Upper management is pretty rude and very unapproachable. They get super upset about labor and will try to have as few people on shift as possible, no matter how busy it gets. Sonic is ran like an absolute MESS. I don't understand why upper management is okay with the establishment being seen like this. I can't imagine how customers feel when they visit and we clearly don't have our shit together, as opposed to somewhere like McDonald's which is always full staffed. Its simply better to work somewhere else.

2 different pays. 7.25 to carhop, 12-13 based on experience to be inside. they'll schedule you a lot of carhops, which can be good for you but our location isn't very busy.

Talking to customers, meeting new people, & having the best regulars!

Management is very hard on the carhops were left to do the work of others such as cooks & fountains. Things including throwing the trash, scrubbing the floors, handling positions that aren’t ours because management didn’t schedule enough staff that day. Were very overworked & talked down upon frequently.

We get the job done and work hard together, we also like getting our employees paid if they are willing to put in the work and put in the time to learn.

The training can be 50/50 depending on who’s doing the training, there is a few bullies who will either talk down on you or talk ceap about you behind your back, management gives said bullies slaps on the wrist instead of replacing them.

The worst thing about my job is that while the sonic corporation already doesn't care about their employees enough my operation partner is a very controlling person who doesn't even let the managers do somethings that their supposed to do then turn around and emotionally manipulate us on why shes so stressed when she takes on more work than she needs to. Then theirs her excessive cheapness where she feels the need to use everything even if very clearly old and unusable. what also comes with her cheapness is the people who are supposed t have a raise have not gotten it in the last 4 months.

The labor is impossible to keep up with, every customer is impatient and so is the higher ups. The food is mediocre, roaches and ants everywhere and it’s on the higher ups, mold everywhere you look. I wouldn’t trust any sonic considering I’ve talked with repair men who fixed machines in other locations saying our store was one of the cleanest they’ve ever seen.
