Best thing
Meeting, connecting with, and supporting fellow crew members and passengers.
Worst thing
Having company standards rooted and based upon the Railway Labor Act 1936 grows to become more and more antiquated and not applicable to countless matters encountered within the aviation industry. Not having basic labor law protections solidified to ensure breaks, meals, business travel accommodations, appropriate compensation rates set that reflect company assigned hours of availability where employees are required to physically reporting to airports creates burnout and directly correlates to plummeting levels of morale across company.
Corporate leaders boast over quarterly, record-breaking profit share/monetary figures. The same leaders brag over the sparkling reputation created and maintained by patron-facing employees, yet do nothing to support “their own” in finding/ securing housing needed to support the necessary relocation needed to sustain working in these capacities. Many employees encounter homelessness, lack food, and live out of cars due to unpredictable work scheduling and wages that do not support routine hotel reservation costs. There is minimal to no company assistance, reward, or reciprocity provided in exchange for employees achieving and surpassing corporate’s high expectations.
