  The hours are hell. There are never enough people in the same shift. Most days it's 3 people running all around a relatively large store putting out fires. Despite management knowing this, we are still reprimanded when work is not completed.

  Nobody keeps me informed about any changes within the store unless it's last minute or I ask. I'm expected to finish other work before I finish my own tasks (I barely have time to finish my said tasks) especially when I'm only scheduled 3-4 hours that day

  My team and most of the customers. I love building relationships and being customer focused. But really, my team makes it worth coming to work everyday. They all work so hard and I try to make sure they all know how much I appreciate them.

  My immediate supervisor. The lack of communication from the top. The secrecy behind the current restructuring. Those few customers that are rude for no reason.

  Flexible schedule is great for retiree needing additional income. Friendly co-workers (mostly) and good customers (mostly). Bonus, I get to play with puppies every day!

  The vet and grooming have appointments an hr before the store opens. When I open on time as a cashier I often have customers staring at me like I've been ignoring them for 10 minutes

  The people I get to work with. Getting to work with animals. Getting to see cute puppies and other animals come into the store.

  Poor leadership. Lack of communication. Lack of proper training. Very repetitive. Dealing with the general public. Company as a whole doesn’t sell proper cages or terrariums that’s needed for the animals. Just sells things that look appealing and what they think would sell.

  Unsafe environment, very difficult to get emergency shifts covered, terrible communication between managers and lower employees, bathrooms and water fountains have been broken for years and are not fixed. Step stools and ladders are falling apart, rusting and wobble very badly. Live animals are put in the freezer to die when deemed not worth taking to a vet. Inhumane and soulless place to work

  Seeing the dogs, and working on them most of the time.

  Some dogs bite, or make it hard so it hurts your back, we run out of supplies a lot so we can't do many special holiday packsge things and when something breaks that we need to work it takes a week or months to get fixed.

  In salon, I am able to freely be myself, I enjoy my coworkers company and working with mostly dogs. It's great if you aren't really into customer service.

  Broken supplies, lack of supplies, managers having no clue about the actual stress of the job, being overworked and underpaid, not getting commission as a bather, not getting health insurance as part time, having to deal with peoples dangerous, untrained dogs

  MAJORLY understaffed and underpaid. Pet Care work is filthy and occasionally dangerous. Corporate is constantly making unnecessary changes that negatively impact employees. The air conditioning is broken and corporate doesn't care.

  The animals, being able to give great help to pet parents when their pet needs extra TLC. The softens I make in the petty and parents life, even if it's a simple as a dog vest or food advice. I may not be a vet but I know enough to bring things to pet patents attention. I also enjoy sending my pet buddies off to a great home when they finally get adopted out.

  Not having space and more options for resources for our animals in store, as well as space for us to store things for our pets in store. Some times the lack of extra hands or hours for pet care areas.

  Managers not listening to us leads and disregarding us when we tell them they are wrong/ never wanting to admit they are wrong. Also blaming us for mistakes thats not our fault. Managers at hotel thinking they know a dog so we'll but sit in their office acting like they are working

  The best things about working for petsmart are seeing tons of cute dogs all day, helping pet parents find solutions for all their pet needs, & seeing all the cool new products as we get them in!

  They ask for a lot out of their employees. On any given day, there are typically AT MOST 5 employees working at a time. Throughout the whole day there’s really only 10-12 employees scheduled to care for the pets we sell (feeding, cleaning, medication for sick pets, vet visits etc), provide customer service, ring register, pick online pickups & ship from store orders, execute inventory management, stock, and much much more. Us as employees are expected to complete tasks at breakneck speed while also providing excellent customer service. Some days it feels impossible given the high sales volume of my particular store.
