Altar'd State job reviews

  • Best thing

My coworkers and managers I work with directly have been very helpful and kind. I appreciate how the company originally puts focus on guest service first and puts in effort to give back to the community.

    Worst thing

The company seems to have gone downhill in the past several months. There was a company wide pay cut a while back that felt like a slap in the face to most employees and caused a lot of people to quit. Since then they’ve had issues with hiring on quality people. It seems they are making other cuts in places that they shouldn’t. We’ve had a lot of errors in manufacturing, quality issues with products, and a large influx of orders that we are unable to keep up with in store causing us to have a much lower Net Promoter Score than years past. Corporate office seems to not be taking accountability with these issues from my perspective and it is just all falling back onto the individual stores. Overall their standards seem a bit too high and unrealistic for the pay they are offering and the store coverage they provide. All their good employees feel stretched thin and overwhelmed.

  • Best thing

I like the 50% discount, meeting new people, making friends with my coworkers, getting to see the new clothing that goes out on the floor and ones that go on sale.

    Worst thing

Clothes are pricey, but constantly breaking. I hate haveing to wear printer paper white shirts, with jeans (minimal holes), and fashion shoes or fashion sneakers (the sneakers have to be all leather or suede, and not all white). Its hard to find the right white and the right style of shirt. Feeling like my feet are going to fall off because there is no comfortable fashion sneakers that are cheaper than $60. Not working enough hours. Constantly hiring more people through December while I was working 4 hour days. Finding out that the company buys clothing for cheap and rises the prices so high.
