Optical assistants work in opticians. They can also be called:

An optical assistant job may involve:

• Working with customers
• Greeting customers
• Helping customers choose frames and lenses
• Undertaking initial assessments before eye tests (e.g. retinal imaging, pressure and visual field tests)
• Measuring frames for customers
• Ordering glasses and contact lenses for customers
• Taking payments

You may have to work on weekends and bank holidays.

This is an entry level job that can offer on-the-job training.
