<p><strong>Senior Buyer – Aftermarket Parts</strong></p> <p><strong>Location: Skelmersdale</strong></p> <p><strong>Competitive package + half day on Fridays</strong></p> <p></p> <p>More than half of the buses that you see on the roads in the UK are made by Alexander Dennis. Globally, there’s over 25,000 people every minute, of every day using our products. That’s a lot of responsibility we have for keeping the world moving. </p> <p>At Alexander Dennis we design, engineer, build and support the widest range of market leading buses and coaches using low, ultra-low and zero emission technologies. We have extensive experience in vehicle supply and support across Europe, Asia Pacific and North America, with a near 50:50 revenue split between UK and international markets. </p> <p>We are excited about the opportunities arising from the global push for lower pollution and better air quality. The UK Government as well as many others around the world have committed to aggressive but achievable decarbonisation agendas and at Alexander Dennis, we are ready to deliver the green buses needed to transition to cleaner transport. </p> <p>Each year we spend several hundred million pounds with our suppliers on everything from nuts and bolts, through to engines, gearboxes, Electric Vehicle batteries and everything in-between. The Procurement team are responsible for ensuring that we have effective strategies and capabilities in place to deliver value to Alexander Dennis and our customers.</p> <p>We are looking for a highly commercially minded <strong>Senior Buyer </strong>to join our established Procurement team, focusing on the Aftermarket area of the business. In position, your number one priority will be supplier quality and reliability, making sure that we contract and develop strong relations with the best suppliers. You will be responsible for researching potential commodity suppliers to explore exclusive Aftermarket commercial opportunities for all vehicle types for the markets in which we operate. We also operate a half day on Fridays, giving you that much needed work-life-balance. </li> </ul> <p><strong>About you:</strong></p> <ul> <li>To be successful, you will have demonstrable experience in a similar role, as defined in this advert where you have had full commercial responsibility for a wide range of commodities. This includes sourcing, commercial negotiation and supplier management.</li> <li>A professional qualification in Purchasing or Supply such as CIPS would be highly advantageous, however for the right person we can offer support towards this.</li> <li>Ideally your work experience will be gained in the automotive industry, however we would also welcome those from other similarly fast-moving engineering or manufacturing environments. </li> <li>You should have a good working knowledge of materials MRP/ERP systems.</li> <li>Due to the nature of the role, it is essential that you have excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills, being able to influence and negotiate at all levels both internally and externally.</li> <li>You will be motivated, adaptable and highly resourceful, being comfortable working in often ambiguous situations.</li> <li>Strong project management discipline is required, with the ability to plan activities, meet assigned schedules and achieve planned objectives.</li> </ul><p><strong>What you will be doing in your new role:</strong></p><ul> <li>With support from both Procurement and Aftermarket teams; you will develop appropriate buying/commodity strategies for Aftermarket parts sales and service-related activities at both a strategic and tactical level.</li> <li>Using your extensive experience, you will lead and participate on supplier commercial negotiations for aftermarket parts and service while working within the broader procurement team’s objectives.</li> <li>Taking a proactive approach, you will develop and utilise supply market intelligence for commercial gain.</li> <li>You will lead on cost preparation for Customer RFQ’s recommendations for submission based on research and supplier distribution and route to market strategy. </li> <li>You will identify and action supplier competition and collaboration opportunities as appropriate. In particular, you will actively promote collaboration with the OE Purchasing team to develop strategic alliances with Suppliers promoting our Aftermarket business.</li> <li>This will be achieved through a hands-on approach to work, as well as leadership and development of a small team including recruitment, retention, communication, employee engagement and training.</li> </ul> <br /> <p><strong>What next:</strong></p> <p>If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you.
