We have extensive experience in vehicle supply and support across Europe, Asia Pacific and North America, with a near 50:50 revenue split between UK and international markets. </p> <p>We are excited about the opportunities arising from the global push for lower pollution and better air quality. The UK Government as well as many others around the world have committed to aggressive but achievable decarbonisation agendas and at Alexander Dennis, we are ready to deliver the green buses needed to transition to cleaner transport. </p> <p>Engineering at Alexander Dennis takes many forms; however, in simple terms, we design buses and coaches by seamlessly integrating third party components (engines, transmissions etc.) into the Alexander Dennis designed Chassis and Body, all to meet our customers exacting requirements.</p> <p>We are looking for a diligent and highly organised Engineering Systems Controller to join the team in Falkirk. We also operate a half day on Fridays, giving you that much needed work-life-balance. </li> </ul> <p></p> <p></p> <p><strong>About you:</strong></p><p></p> <p></p> <ul> <li>To be successful, you will have demonstrable experience in a similar role, as defined in this advert. This experience should be gained from another similar, design for manufacture business.</li> <li>Due to the technical nature of the role, it is essential that you are fully conversant with design release processes and engineering change control. Furthermore, you will be experienced and knowledgeable on Bill of Material (BOM) changes and importantly effectivity implementation.</li> <li>You be highly IT literate, being comfortable with Microsoft packages, as well as bespoke Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems (ideally SYSPRO). Furthermore, it is essential that are being a proficient user of CAD / PLM systems, such as TeamCenter and Solidedge.</li> <li>Meticulous by nature, you will be comfortable operating with a high degree of detail and to high standards of quality.</li> <li>You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with colleagues and third parties at all levels.</li> <li>A proven self-starter, with excellent time management skills, you will be comfortable working under your own initiative and with little supervision, as well as part of a team.</li> <li>Finally, you should be comfortable and enjoy doing all of this in a deadline driven, pressurised environment</li> </ul><p><br /></p><p><strong>What you will be doing in your new role:</strong></p><p></p><ul> <li>First and foremost, you will be responsible for the processing of engineering changes which are released by design teams. As part of this, you will process the engineering document and BOM (Bill of Material) changes, taking into account the type of change and the effect the change will have on Production, project plans and product costs. </li> <li>You will use your engineering knowledge to assess when changes can be passed through to Planning without discussion or vitally whether the change requires to be reviewed with planning or sent back to Design for more detail. </li> <li>You will be using tools to assess engineering BOM changes on large multi-level BOMs that require a high level of attention to detail. </li> <li>You will also be providing part classification and BOM maintenance support in both the TeamCenter PLM and SYSPRO ERP systems. </li> <li>You will also be involved in the creation of customer specific colour BOMs and chassis BOMs based on product configuration output. </li> <li>You will be part of a team that provides engineering change support for multiple build sites around the world and therefore you should be able to deal with a fast changing set of objectives and processes that reflect site specific requirements</li> </ul> <p></p> <p></p> <p><strong>What next:</strong></p> <p></p> <p>If this sounds like you, then we would love to hear from you.
