Job description

<p><strong>Principal Integration, Test and Acceptance Engineer</strong></p><p>Would you like a unique and challenging opportunity working within a dynamic team delivering a Combat System solution based on high performance datacentre technologies, like no other in the world, that operates within the demanding environment of a submarine? We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Integration, Test and Acceptance team based in Frimley.</p><p>As a Principal Integration, Test and Acceptance Engineer, you will integrate third party software into a Combat System, ensuring that it meets the necessary requirements to interface with other applications on the datacentre infrastructure, and provide support to the in-build and in-service platforms. You will also be liaising with the Royal Navy, external suppliers, technical authorities and subject matter experts.</p><p>This role provides significant technical input into ensuring the continued successful integration and operation of the Combat System and could lead to future opportunities within the team or wider BAE Systems Business.</p><p><strong>Your main responsibilities as a Principal Integration, Test and Acceptance Engineer will involve: </strong></p><p>Taking a leading role in the integration, qualification and test of third-party subsystem hardware and software, together with the development, implementation and management of associated qualification plans and processes.</p><p>Undertake test and acceptance, liaising with all necessary stakeholders, to ensure appropriate capture and presentation of test and acceptance evidence against requirements.</p><p>Collaboration and communication with many other stakeholders within the enterprise covering system design, security, safety, non-functional qualification, design authorities, technical authorities, subsystem suppliers, MOD (customer), etc to ensure an appropriate and cohesive implementation of the Combat System integration, test and acceptance strategy.</p><p>Providing support to in-build and in-service platforms by triaging, managing and rectifying defects, including investigation at various sites.</p><p>Producing technical documentation to support integration, test and acceptance activities.</p><p><strong>Your skills and qualifications:</strong></p><p><strong>Essential:</strong></p><p>Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.</p><p>Experience of the integration of subsystems within the defence industry and understanding of the associated functional and non-functional requirements and constraints.</p><p>Strong fault-finding experience with the ability to solve complex IT interoperability problems.</p><p>Understanding of IP based networks including low level protocols and RFCs.</p><p>Knowledge of administration of both Windows and Linux Operating Systems.</p><p>Experience working with virtualised environments, in particularly VMWare. </p><p>Sound understanding of systems engineering and the engineering lifecycle.</p><p><strong>Desirable:</strong> </p><p>CCNA, MCSE or Network + certification.</p><p><strong>What we&#39;re looking for in you:</strong></p><p>You will have the capability of communicating complex information effectively, both orally and in writing, with colleagues and other internal or external stakeholders at all levels.
