Post: Home Care Assistant - 10 permanent posts available

Hours: 26.25 contract hours per week.

We are currently only recruiting for staff to undertake the role on late shifts (2.30pm-10.30pm)

Salary: Grade 5

Location: Brierley Hill Health and Social Care Centre or various locations across Dudley borough

Excellent opportunities have arisen to work within Assessment and Independence on Urgent Care Services and Dudley Short Term Assessment and Reablement team.

The role:

We are looking for passionate, caring people with a genuine desire to support our vulnerable adults in the community and enable them to lead as independent a life as possible.

This role will require you to support people in crisis or at times of ill health following a hospital visit and ensure they go home with the correct support to meet their needs. You will work with colleagues to plan and provide person-centred care that promotes respect, dignity and personalisation. We expect Home Care Assistants to ensure high quality care is delivered to service users, helping with their physical and personal needs including the administration of medication, if required.

You will also need to be an effective communicator both verbally and in writing, with excellent recording skills. You will be expected to work as a member of a team.

Relevant mandatory training will be provided during the induction period.

As a Home Care Assistant you will be working contract hours per week on a set rota which includes weekends and some bank holidays, for which relevant enhancements will be paid. Hours of work are between 7am to 10.30pm, depending on the set rota pattern you are allocated and the needs of the service.

You may need to work flexibly, travelling across the Dudley borough and will therefore need to have the use of a vehicle for work and a driving licence.

You will need to have the right to work in the UK, DMBC do not offer sponsorship.

    You'll always have people you don't like to work with, that being said however I've found them to be few and far between. Usually your line manager understands what needs to be done and how to do it and how to help yourself.

    Worst thing

    The head office doesn't have a clue as to what is actually going on and what needs to be changed. That's really it, there are so many people involved for just sorting out one project that it prevents anything from changing in the correct time frame, a lot of the rule makers need to get down and dirty doing the jobs with us to understand that what they are putting in place never works.
