About the Role

Working to support adults and their families who have complex social needs and are more vulnerable as a result of disability, exclusion, or diminished capacity, you'll maximise their potential to live independently.

Social workers manage a caseload, including assessment of risk and purposeful intervention through direct work, commissioned services and review. With case work focusing on the most complex and challenging adult cases, you'll ensure that adults and their families are safeguarded. You'll share ideas and best practice, providing specialist advice as part of a multi-disciplinary team sharing your knowledge as a Social Worker.

Our teams in South Essex are primarily based out of our offices in Basildon. South Essex borders the unitary authority of Southend and Thurrock and offers the opportunity to work with health partners within the area. In addition, the area also has good links to London. With a mix of Urban and some rural/ semi-rural locations, the variety and scope of the work you will be able to get involved in is huge.

All of our teams are supportive of each other and offer opportunities for professional development to meet the SWE regulations. Our teams include Older Adults Mental Health, Discharge to Assess, Learning Disability & Autism, Physical & Sensory Impairments and Neighbourhood teams.

About You

To apply you should be a qualified social worker with a current Social Work England registration. You'll bring social work experience, evidence of continuing professional development, and capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards.

You'll bring significant experience of social work, modelling good practice and providing advice and guidance in complex situations. As, as a subject matter expert in relevant professional practice, you should have a comprehensive understanding of current legislation, regulations, and guidance. With experience of chairing meetings involving clients, family members, carers, and other multi-agency professionals, we're looking for your ability to develop strong relationships with partner agencies and the local community to provide a supportive framework for vulnerable adults.

Our Social Worker roles involve travelling around Essex. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.

    Service Managers have no idea what actually happens in the settings and don’t appear to care, we worked constantly through the pandemic and the all of the management show no gratitude for it and a distinct lack of understanding for the impact it’s still having in its frontline services and the stress it still causes

    They advertise a “well-being” hour that support workers aren’t allowed in our department despite others with adult social care getting an hour a week for!

    Our service manager makes no effort to be part of our service and has only been to our setting once in the years he’s been in post.
