What Wineflair employees say about their job

  • Best thing

The best things about my job are the team of people I work with and the customers that I have got to know over time.

    Worst thing

Dealing with drunk customers on your own is scary and locking up alone feels unsafe late at night. Feeling stressed and responsible for drunk drivers. Having to take time out on your days off to bring keys to shops and not being paid for this time. Trying to take a break on your own and being constantly interrupted so it feels like you haven’t actually had a break. Expected to come in 10 minutes early for every shift but not getting those 10 minutes back in breaks even though the contract states we should. Expected to pay for stock that has went out of date even though it does not state this in the contract. No sick pay and contracts that do not properly clarify elements of absence. Proper fire safety checks not being carried out and fire doors sometimes blocked by stock or outside obstacles. The locked door of the shop not automatically unlocking in the event of a fire and having no latch to unlock from the inside. The only way to open is by a button at the till or key which my not be possible during an emergency. The company has the potential to be great to work for if it revised its contracts for sales assistants, improved safety measures for staff, addressed the issues with repayments and insured uninterrupted breaks.

  • Best thing

    Doing my rota, my team

    Worst thing

The pay is pathetic compared to what responsibilities head office expect of you. Aggressive alcoholic customers are the norm.
Poor contracts and pay for sales assistants leads to poor quality staff who leave you in the lurch, and you are expected to fill in. On call 24/7 with no benefit.
