  • Best thing

Great co-workers, good breaks, decent food,

    Worst thing

Managers don't care for anyone but themselves, sit downstairs eating fool all day whilst making everyone do their jobs, customers are rude and have no respect for waiters, pay is poor for the amount we are expected to do, managers sit on their phone on facebook and instagram while team members have 15 mins to clean the whole restaurant and bar and tell us to clock out before we've finished what we are doing, managers get annoyed when we ask them to do manager functions on tills eg. input discounts

    Worst thing

Understaffed quite a few times on busy weekends. Hard to take time off or call in sick.

    3.9

Zizzi Front of house, July 2022

  • Best thing

The majority of customers are respectful and understanding when things get really busy and short staffed. They’re friendly and not all of them will leave a tip but don’t let that bother you. Because the real reward is getting to interact and bond with customers. For example, giving them small compliments. It’s rare to come across customers who are rude, aggressive, or the typical Karen who demands to speak to the manager.

    Worst thing

Unpaid breaks, and not all the team members you work with will like you or give you an easy time. Managers may be difficult to work with and may blame you for not doing something on time or doing something else when you weren’t told to. Every day is different.
Improper training. I’ve been at my current job for nearly 2 months and I still haven’t been trained on packing takeaways or making drinks or answering the phone for bookings.
And I still haven’t had a 1:1 with one of the managers. I need to know what I’m doing well and what I still need to work on. They don’t give the time of day to conduct these. To at least check on your employees and their performance.

manager doesn't do anything about the problems that I would mention.

sometimes understaffed which means I will have to do jobs I'm not supposed to e. g. polishing cutlery.
