About the role

About the role

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll take the lead in guiding classes of around 30 students in the absence of the class teacher. Lessons will always be pre-planned, and your role is to facilitate learning, manage classroom dynamics, maintain accurate registers, and seamlessly handover to the absent teacher.

We offer a fully comprehensive Cover Supervisor Training Programme developed by Vision for Education and North East Partnership SCITT to prepare you with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the classroom.

We have run this course over the past year with great success, many of our longer term placements have led to permanent contracts due to outstanding feedback from the schools in which we have placed them.

We are working with supportive schools throughout Greater Manchester who have been instrumental in providing a supportive environment in which you can hone your skills.

Requirements

To be considered for the role of Trainee Cover Supervisor you will:

Be a natural leader with the confidence to guide a lesson in the teacher's absence.
Have experience of supporting young people in either a sports coaching, mentor or similar role.
Able to provide suitable references, a valid DBS Check and hold the Right to Work in the UK

All staff we register will undertake thorough interviewing and referencing checks and hold, or be prepared to undergo, an Enhanced DBS check that must be registered on the Update Service.

    My employer is an agency. The school they put me in to work on a regular basis is a wonderful place to work. I feel that our well being matters. I get thanked regularly and told I’m doing a really good job. The children I work with are well behaved, polite and respectful but if I do come across issues, management in the school are available and fully supportive. The staff team are phenomenally supportive to each other.

    Worst thing

    Working for an agency means I get paid quite a bit less than if I was employed directly by the school. I no longer get paid during school holidays therefore, come Summer, I have no income for six weeks. This gives me no opportunity to save money for a rainy day. I have to put money away in advance, ready to cover my household bills over the thirteen unpaid weeks of the year. No money to spend on inessentials during term time, working to survive.
