What One Stop employees say about their job

  • Best thing

The discount can help with shopping and getting affordable clothes for growing kids around payday

    Worst thing

Over worked, more and more work gets piled on with no allowance for extra staff to cover shortfall. Don't get a payrise going to management level from an unofficial position in the company. No support from the company dealing with regular shoplifters even when they threaten the safety of the staff, other than a message from the ceo which is vague. As a single parent I don't get decent time with my kids. My days off are sporadic and never together

  • Best thing

    Nothing

    Worst thing

Management, think there better anyone else , treating you like number not a person , letting long term staff to do any hours they want , which is usually the early shifts , which leaves new starters to do late shifts finish at 10pm, store manager doesn't do any of the late shifts all the manager does is the early shifts, no security in store shop lifters come in take what they want only ever 2 people in the shop on a evening not thinking of staff safety,

    1.2

One Stop Customer assistant, May 2024

  • Best thing

Something to do every day, time normally goes quite fast at work and after you get a good routine going the hard parts become easier. I get enough hours, pay is a lot better than previous workplaces which were minimum wage and I worked my way up to shift leader quickly which has let me get more experience in the workplace.

    Worst thing

A lot is expected of you and being responsible for others who may not show you proper respect can be hard, also only getting a 20 minute break for an 8 hour shift isn't ideal, I'd like to have at least half an hour-45 minutes ideally especially as we're expected to clock out for them.

    5.5

-shop is clean and organised well.
-lots of CCTV so if anything bad happened I know it can be checked through.
-can pick up someone's shift for more experience or money

    Worst thing

-i don't always get told things so don't feel as respected as the other people with the same job who do
-not much support for mental health besides "you'll be fine" "just drink some water"
-people have changed my shifts without asking me for permission first.
-i feel like a joke as I'm always quite eager and care a lot
