Read a Testimonial from one of our Store Managers

Being a Store Manager at The Entertainer is so rewarding! I once had a child say to me ‘you have the best shop EVER in the whole world!’ That is what pushes me and my team to be the best we can be and to take pride in our shop and the stock we sell.

The role has many hats to it; as well as admin, rotas, merchandising, delivery and customer service you are also responsible for your team who are vital to the store. Without them, you wouldn’t be able to open the store and trade. I make sure my team are trained to complete their tasks to the best of their ability and we work together in any areas of weakness. We have a great online learning platform which is available to all employees, and we use that to learn more about new products which arrive on our deliveries every week.

My favourite day of the week is a Saturday as this is the day, we get to demo toys to the kids (both big kids and actual children). We are interactive with them and show them how the toys work so that they are inspired by play. You never know a person’s situation, but if we can bring joy and playtime to the children that walk into our shops then I call that a massive success!”

  • Best thing

The main people I work with (not including management/supervisors) are amazing, they are helpful, kind, and supportive. There is weekly pay. It’s based solely on the warehouse so not customer orientated so if you’re like me and you struggle severely with social interaction/anxiety, it’s a great position.

    Worst thing

No sick pay, 30 minute unpaid break, there’s no actual rota so you find out if you’re on shift the day before via text/a sheet for the next day only, for 2 weeks on the trot I’ve had no work and no pay due to not being called in, I have no idea who my actual manager is as I’ve barely met them, the supervisors don’t seem approachable, everyone who picks/packs/anything else that’s not a higher position is on the same pay per hour regardless of how long they’ve been there (I.e 5 years and above)
