What are chefs de partie saying about pay at Youngs?

  • Best thing

Staff are generally great and the jobs fairly easy.
It’s great being able to go out and have 20% off my drinks

    Worst thing

Highest management are pretty clueless and don’t tend to pay you much respect in any stressful situations (lower management is great though)

  • Best thing

There's not many things that are fine. If you get to work with good people then it's bearable to work in the busy pub of Young's company

    Worst thing

Hours so long that you break down the next few days. 12 or 13 hour shifts without proper breaks and breaks are not paid and you need to pay for the food at work although you get a discount. Holidays are really hard to get. Managers can be so focused on earning money thru you that the often push you to a breaking point just because they don't care about your mental or physical health. When you call in sick you are always guilt tripped. And when you have days off they always call you in to cover someone. Hourly pay is always a minimum wage and it's incredibly hard to progress because all the managers hate competition and will do insane things just to keep you away from progressing.
When you get break finally they often don't let you have the entire break and they tell you they need you to be back way to sooner than your break finishes.
