  Some managers are micromanagers, you do deal with quite a bit of displeased customers, sometimes there is a lot of unnecessary stress.

  They scheduled me to work 7 hours on Saturday starting at 7am and also a Sunday starting at 8. And they know I’m in full time education doing a levels and that amount of hours whilst doing a levels is impossible. And when I requested to change my hours I was told I had to wait till they are hiring

  Some of the tasks, different stuff each day, Breaks, pays not awful but still isn’t great.

  The staff are friendly and you do get to enjoy talking to customers. Most customers are kind

  You can be put under a lot of stress. Either a lot of customers in one go or having to do a lot of things in order for you to be out on time. There is a lot to learn too

  The lack of empathy from managers, having very high expectations after very very little training in specialised areas, the customers are very often rude but that goes for all supermarkets I suppose.

  It’s rarely too busy so I don’t get super stressed and it helps to support my university education

  Overtime is a bit all over the place, especially at Christmas, depending on your manager they are very unsympathetic to sick days and aren’t great at managing holidays or time off where your still working

  Managers disrespect me. They try and block leave - even on religious occasions and for providing care
  Sometimes manager doesn’t put sick leave through as sickness, and I don’t get paid for it
  Having to deal with rookie managers that aren’t trained to care for their teams and manage around their work/life situations

  it’s a partnership and everyone treats everyone else kindly and with respect, plus the managers actually get their hands dirty when they need to if we are understaffed you can see managers on tills or doing date code checking even potwash , they also care a lot about our workers rights

  When I started we had departments we worked for now we do everything from baking,checkouts,compliance service counters and replenishing stock and now do deliveroo and uber shopping . We may be stretched over 4 or more areas in one shift
