Who pays retail store and shop managers the most?

What are retail store and shop managers saying about pay at TK Maxx?

  • Best thing

    Made some friends. That’s it.

    Worst thing

They made us clean up someone’s poop in fitting rooms, managers are so disrespectful, the shop is a mess, we never leave on time, they take minutes off of our pay each time as we never leave on time, they make us pay £1.50 for a pot noodle out of the pantry (which should be free as you get a store fund each month). There is nothing good about TKMaxx.

    do different things each shift

  • Best thing

It’s honestly a fun place to work with the right people. It’s a great job for students who work 8 hour contracts. The pay isn’t terrible but if a big expense comes your way then you are likely not going to be able to afford it.

    Worst thing

Management talks down to you and almost treats you like children. Regionals and higher ups don’t really understand how hard the job can be in a busy store with inconsiderate customers who purposefully make mess in front of workers. People mistreat and misuse fitting rooms such as ‘doing their business’ in them. Managers will often come over to help if a customer becomes aggressive but just to tell the customer you are in the wrong and then they get discounts on their shopping for inconveniencing us working there.

  • Best thing

    - Proper breaks
    - Good pay as an Under 18
    - Social events with coworkers
    - Flexible schedule
    - Get paid for what you work (overtime)
    - Busy stores mean time goes by quicker

    Worst thing

    - Have to figure lot of things out on your own
    - Can be physically tiring
    - Busy stores means dealing with rude customers

    8.0

TK Maxx Store assistant, November 2023

  • Best thing

    Nothing

    Worst thing

The management don’t respect you. Buyers are put on such a pedestal and don’t respect anyone lower than them. You’re expected to do heavy lifting, when you’re not trained/not in contract. Expected to train new starters, create new training material without any pay rise. Disability is not taken seriously
