What are retail and sales assistants saying about pay at Timpson?

  • Best thing

    Left to your own devices

    Worst thing

Poor pay, stressful fast paced environment, most people work alone , nobody to bounce off or back you up, no proper breaks, no toilets, highly unlikely to be able to book your holidays when you desire, constant rubbish talk about how amazing the company are when it's not true, yes it has perks but not easy to receive them contrary to popular belief, work every Saturday and a lot of Sundays, such a great company but even at Christmas they make you work bank holiday only giving you 2 days off, if they cared about the staff they wouldn't make them do this, if you are thinking of working for timpson don't do it

  • Best thing

    Best things

Nothing anymore. Jobs become more about opening the door for the day than anything else. Standards have dropped massively over ten years.

    Worst thing

    Pay
Bonus system (needs updating) so staff actually try and can earn a good share for the work/sales they make.

Trying to book any day off results In you just swapping your normal day off

    Working alone

Too many under trained staff leaving the branch managers doing two peoples jobs basically

Also the fact the owner is all over the press portraying how good the company is, couldn’t be further from the truth.

Could carry on but this thread would never end.

  • Best thing

    It just pays bills

    Worst thing

It pay's so little for what we do in shops

    3.9

    Timpson Customer assistant, January 2022

  • Best thing

My job is fairly safe and opportunities for overtime are plenty

    Worst thing

The overtime is almost forced on you. Most of the shops have no toilets. The pay for most is minimum wage. Most people work alone

    Timpson Manager, June 2021

  • Best thing

Work is enjoyable, benefits are like none other. Great bunch of people. More like a family than a multimillion pound business

    Worst thing

Pay could be better considering the amount of responsibility you're left with but I'm sure every job could pay better.
