What are retail and sales assistants saying about pay at The Range?

  • Best thing

The other staff were great and on an eight hour shift you had two 15 minute paid breaks but one 45 unpaid break. Some of the managers were great too.

    Worst thing

some the management would stand there and stare at you whilst you’d work and just shout at you. The pays terrible compared to the work they expect you to do. Really understaffed as budgets are so tight as the owner won’t invest money into each store.

The Range Customer assistant, November 2023

  • Best thing

    Colleagues are friendky

    Worst thing

Management on you at all times, nothing is ever good enough and more often than not you end up doing their jobs anyway. Often get blamed for things that are out of your control and definitely above your pay grade.

    Worst thing

Asked to stick to contract hours but still put me in too much.

  • Best thing

    We got 45 minute breaks

    Worst thing

    -condescending managers
-the managers take pictures of your work and show you in the office, showing you how bad you did at something
    -unrealistic goals
    -bad pay
-the blame is always put on the younger people
-asking personal questions when you need days off I.e I got taken to somewhere with no cameras and asked what my hospital appointment was for, because I didn’t disclose she said she wouldn’t give me the day or put me on a later shift.
    -they watch you constantly
-talk about you behind your back
-humiliate you infront of other people
