    Unstaffed, no sick pay, can never swap a shift, holidays are easy to ask for but hard to get sometimes, stressful environment due to how busy the shop can be

    Poor minimum wage pay. Lack of training, stress of working untrained in medical environment, most staff are poorly paid which causes anxiety among staff, especially young adults

    It’s a good industry to go into, people are always going to need glasses. You’re not sat at a desk all day and it’s very hands on so you won’t get bored.

    Worst thing

    Some customers are so nasty, disadvantages of working in customer service. It is a very stressful, very understaffed environment where you’re not very appreciated and often underpaid.

    -Pretty straightforward job that’s quick to grasp and get used to

    -bad management who don’t show respect
    -no training when started, was made to shadow someone knew and have one of my colleagues voluntarily teach me rather than the managers teach me themselves
    -no benefits provided (no free/discounted glasses or eye tests etc).
    -very understaffed which causes a lot of stress on busy days
    I could go on but I’ll be here all day

    Being singled out - mostly by manager

    Ideas not being listened to - only listened to when others state the same thing I have said at a later point in time

    New rules and proceedures being given but never regulated to see who is not following them - nothing ever done about people who do not follow rules

    Most team members lack of respect for other members of the team

    Certain team members, particularly newer members, treated more favourably and given more opportunities

    Being forced into doing new duties without choice which were never discussed during the interview or any stage after - not being remunerated for these additional tasks
