Best thing
Some of the most lovely people I've ever worked with, management are great at their jobs and keen to help you progress.
You are actively helping patients at ground level which is awesome.
Bank shifts available.
Higher rate of pay on weekends, bank holidays and overnight.
Screen at reception to keep you safe.Worst thing
Hours are very very long, cannot split them or do only some hours of that day unless you're doing emergency cover.
Patients/relatives can be verbally aggressive but I think they are introducing better measures to counter this.
There is a chance you will work Christmas Day (if that's a deal-breaker for you) as it is an emergency department.Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Receptionist, March 2024
