Rodericks Dental Dental nurse, June 2023

  • Best thing

The job itself is interesting and it is rewarding helping patients.

    Worst thing

High stress, high staff turnover, poor organisation, lack of support, lack of meaningful recognition for hard work, only one *unpaid* single break, expected to work unpaid when setting up or running late, weekly rotas are given less than 24 hours in advance, you are expected to travel long distances with short notice (sometimes same day) if another practice in a different town or city doesn't have enough staff, you regularly have your apprenticeship study day taken from you, management are secretive, cliquey and act superior - most come in and finish when they want rather than a set time like the rest of staff, don't advise when they're not coming in due to meetings/other obligations, incompetent/inexperienced managers (most are promoted nurses with 0 prior management experience) who are given very little support to succeed. You are told not to discuss pay or working conditions with colleagues, reporters or senior management. Nurses input is widely disregarded. Frequently asked to provide false reviews to boost online ratings.
