Firstly, on our contract it says we get a minimum of two weeks notice of our rotas but currently I’ll get days notice if I’m lucky. Secondly, we are seriously understaffed but we have enough staff they just don’t want to schedule enough people to work so the people who are working have to do 3-4 peoples jobs to ensure the restaurant stays running smoothly which is very exhausting all because they want to save money when it comes to paying staff. Thirdly, managers are rude and speak to you like you’re beneath them shout at you when orders aren’t getting sent on out on time when we’re understaffed and yet they sit in the back doing nothing. Fourth, they make us write and post 5 star reviews so they look good when in reality the service is terrible because they don’t have enough staff and they want to hide that online. Fifth, it’s clear the managers have favourites and those favourites tend to get more shifts then the rest of us which is unfair but there’s nothing we can do. Sixth, they will after you’ve done backbreaking work for them and it’s time for you to go home they will pressure you into staying extra hours which you don’t know if you’ll get paid for cause only certain managers can allow overtime.
