What people are saying about sick pay at Pets at Home
-
Best thing
The animals and a good laugh every now and again
Worst thing
They get me doing 6am shifts, always cleaning pets and will sometimes make me do algae cleans too. Don’t give me breaks when I’m required
Store assistant at Pets at Home, July 2025
-
Best thing
Puppies, kinda quiet on an evening
Worst thing
Manager talks down to me, rude customers, impossible KPI target, customers over everything and breaks are interrupted alot
Store colleague at Pets at Home, March 2024
-
Best thing
Pay isn’t bad, the people I work with make it bare-able
Worst thing
Constantly staying late, missing breaks and it being unpaid, expect too much with no time often running the salon on your own meaning you have to groom dogs do walk in nail trims in the middle of grooms, be a receptionist and a cleaner all in one as well as having difficult dogs on your own and risk of being bitten or seriously hurt and no one would know if you are on your own. Unrealistic targets, keep adding walk in services when we already struggle for time, the staff who make these new walk in services have never worked in a salon in their lives.

Best thing
The pay is decent at £13.04, you can obviously always get more.
Worst thing
The managers are awful. Some of the dog food gets infested and they say its fine to send to the customer. Half an hour breaks are unpaid.
