Last updated 4 September 2024

How we know this

Based on data from 13 people who took the Breakroom Quiz between September 2022 and September 2024.

85% of people say they don’t get paid breaks.

Why this matters

A good job should have paid breaks.

You should be paid for all your time at work, whether you’re on a break or not.

Jobs where breaks are paid

What people are saying about sick pay at One Housing

  • Best thing

Helping people and promoting their independence

    Worst thing

Sometimes you work through your breaks and it’s only your colleagues who tells you go have a break. Management have no time to speak with you and address concerns or even return to work meetings after periods of sickness. Sicknesses get rejected. New starts who are supposed to be supernumerary are included in the number of carers on the shift and therefore have to work.. sometimes regardless if they’ve had the proper training or not. You are promised meetings to speak with management about you settling in but it doesn’t happen.
