Newcastle Building Society job reviews

  • Best thing

You can choose your shifts, as long as you do the hours you're meant to do you can do them whenever you want.

    Worst thing

There is too much work and not enough staff members to do it. You feel like you can't take holidays because you're already understaffed and someone on holiday just makes that worse. You feel very isolated and 'othered' from the rest if the department. The employer is reactive, not proactive, and they are very out of touch with the people working for them. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. The higher managers are very condescending and will often pull a 'one rule for me one rule for you' approach by chastising you for doing something then doing the same thing 5 minutes later. The managers tend to use an 'everyone is guilty' approach instead of speaking to individuals who don't stick to resource.

  • Best thing

flexible working arrangements, I can work as ans when I please so long as I do the hours I am conteacted for.

    Worst thing

many 'higher up'vmanagers have no clue about the role I am doing so assume things will move quicker than they will in reality. The workload is often trivialised and portrayed as being a much smaller issue than it is
