What are waiters and waitresses saying about pay at Miller & Carter Steakhouse?

  • Best thing

Miller & Carter Steakhouse Shift supervisor, September 2023

  • Best thing

Easy bar work, fast paced and good discounts for staff. Lovely location.

    Worst thing

The pay gap between supervisors and assistant managers- supervisors paid hourly (50p above minimum wage) and AM’s on £29k…tips are all kept by floor staff waiting on tables, service charge goes straight to them also. Runners, bar and kitchen staff get a couple of quid a night from each waiter. Waiters take home hundreds a night. Not fairly proportioned, all waiters do are talking to customers and taking orders. People make their food, drinks, run food food and clear tables for them. In my particular workplace, everyone was a partner or family member of someone else so a lot of favoritism going on. When I had a problematic staff member who was going out of control on shifts and I had no help from management because this person was mates with two of the management team. I’ve worked in hospitality for nearly 20 years and this was the worst company I’ve worked for.
