What are retail store and shop managers saying about pay at McColls?

  • Best thing

Flexible role with many different tasks, easy base work

    Worst thing

Unsafe working environment, terrible pay, bureaucracy - head office expecting more and more to be done whilst constantly decreasing hours, no benefits even during covid, paycut for supervisors each year compared to assisstants, rude customers exacerbated by poor choices from head office and lack of training

    1.1

    McColls Supervisor, May 2023

  • Best thing

The team that I work with

    Worst thing

Higher management strip back staff to minimum hours below the threshold required to do the job, if the minimum wage was £5 they would pay you this. The company has no regard for their hard working staff what so ever

    5.5

    McColls Employee, April 2023

  • Best thing

The team I work with makes it an easy place to work. Hours can be flexible

    Worst thing

Lack of staff hours resulting in more work in less time frame, tasks not being completed. Low pay for what your expected. The company piles on more tasks, making them a must, but won't help with staffing hours to help complete. Worried about pushing items at the till, but unable too if hhfs store. Worried about full, bold priced stacks, but having amples amount of stock, over priced. Too much stock in stores that won't sell, goes out of date, then the company shares markdown policy. Reignite.

    Worst thing
