Pay above minimum wage, three weeks of rotas up, good team bond most of the time

Very long hours, heavy workload, hard to leave on time, toxic management from some managers, some area managers and some office managers. RDC and area managers have no idea what it's like to do the job and set very unrealistic expectations. Bare minimum training, very hard to progress or learn a new skill in the store, expected to be available from 5am-11pm and during the night sometimes.

Never enough staff, horrid management, insensitive towards those who are ill. They make u feel guilty for phoning in and try to manipulate u to stay, they over work u to point where you are doing 60 hours on a 20 hour contract. They rely on customer assistance to train newbies instead of actual trainers. And allow shift managers to be disrespectful and rude to other staff. Customer service it hard with the public but when your own work team seems to be against you too, honestly makes me dread going in, were only human every single person cannot be expected to bump out 6-7 ft pallets with in 25 minutes its insane

Lack of understanding from some upper management as they haven't worked customer service; having too many tasks to do at the same time (working two or three roles at once); difficulty changing shifts on shorter notice as rota can be up to 4 weeks in advance; broken equipment doesn't get fixed making the job far more difficult; not enough staff on shift; very high expectations with little time to execute to the standard demanded; lack of training

Everything else. Management pick their favourites and make ur life hell if u aren’t one. So boring mentally and physically draining. Start at 6 am and don’t get a break untill 1 in afternoon. Long pointless shifts.

i love the people, they are all so down to earth and fun. ive made so many friends thanks to lidl. i love getting to talk with new people daily. the pay is also really good with many opportunities to work your way up in your career.

i notice that time goes by quite slowly which can be quite draining and unless i am are sat on till all day my legs and back ache constantly. its also a very repetitive job, everyday is almost the same.

Other colleagues constantly pressuring you to go faster, physical workload was illness inducing for me and still not good enough. Initial training was rushed through and half of it not done at all, just signed off. No variety in the days, just break your body in the morning then till once open or self checkout which is very isolating. Staff barely talk to each other and are not really very welcoming. Zero concept of positive reinforcement within the store but as others have said extremely quick to critique.

My team. I’ve worked in other stores and I’ve never worked with a group of people so genuinely caring and helpful. Working on the shop floor is also nice when left to get on with the job

We are expected to be completely flexible and available 7 days a week. I am often rung up and asked to come in and cover a 10 hour shift with an hours notice, or will have my hours changed with no notice. The constant pressure of being in a customer facing role. I guess I have a good customer service voice because I am always put to work on self service. We only do 10 hour shifts, so that is 10 hours walking in the same square area. These 10 hour shifts also only reward us with a single half an hour break. Higher management (store and area manager) has a complete disconnect from their expectations of us as a store to what we can realistically achieve when it is busy. Because when we literally have a queue snaking the aisles of course my time management is the problem and not having to work around customers to stock the selves.

The best part of the job is the people all the staff are really nice and if you have any issues they help no matter what.

Worste part of the job for me is the 20 minute break as I have been used to getting an hour for 8 or more hours work were every 6 hours you work in Lidl you get a 20 minute break
