What are vehicle mechanics and technicians saying about pay at Kwik Fit?

  • Best thing

I get on well with the team. The location makes it easier to commute.

    Worst thing

Lack of usable equipment e.g. electric guns not working without holding the battery, tablet system that crashes 9 times out of 10, deleting the report you just spent 10mins plus on, or it doesn't do the things that you want it to do, making the process of using it a drain.
Computers that are so slow and a system that is primitive and out of date.

Work too longer hours for the pay, then when you ask for a payrise that is still with in the starting wage they shut you down.

Having to deal with some not so nice customers because you can't do it straight away, or the price is too high.

All of the staff having to do to people's jobs, like the manager fitting tyres and brakes while having to run the office, or the tyre fitter seeing customers and answering phones, or the service tech doing all of them. So ideally need more people in the centre.

    Kwik Fit Supervisor, October 2023

  • Best thing

the people you work with in centre can be great
the way the holidays can work out sometimes mean you can use 5 days holiday but have 9 days off

    Worst thing

head office 90% of the time are useless
the people that deal with mechanical fleet side of things are not the most helpful
the managers get all the credit when in reality the supervisors are running the centre 40-50% of the year on their own
    sick pay is rarely granted
    bereavement is only 3 days
if you need a sick day or a day off for hospital etc. you are made to feel guilty by most managers and expected to come in if its a hospital appt
youre expected to work longer, to not be paid much if any of the overtime you do, and have a conference call before you're expected to be in centre (15 mins prior to opening)

  • Best thing

Have the ability to understand and have the knowledge to fix cars.
    Alright staff discount.

    Worst thing

Body gets worn. Some customers treat u poorly. The company doesn't fix things quickly or easily. Depending on your staff, you have to swap Sundays if you want holiday. Sick pay isn't always granted, or you have to be off for a certain amount of time in order to get it. The computer software is slow and annoying, along with the tablets for reports. No matter how much money you make, the company still wants you to do more and make it in other places.

  • Best thing

    Better then the unemployment benefit

    Worst thing

Can't take proper breaks, when you book a week holiday you can bet they will call you two days in asking you to cover somewhere as they are short staffed pay was below average for someone with proven skills and experience they do this to keep everyone on the same pay slip or as little pay increase as possible I quite my job three times and they kept re employing me as I know I was good at my job but they just can't look after staff and will forever be under staffed and over worked
