- early starts
- only allowed to call in sick 3 times after that you’re not paid
- multiple cases of sexual harassment within the work place (nothing is done)
- no priority for staff wellbeing (numerous examples of staff stating they are having issue with mental health and nothing is done)
- food offered at work is unhealthy, doesn’t taste nice, limited options
- career progression is extremely difficult
- a lot of managers are very rude, condescending, pushy
- salaries are low
- lack of support dealing with rude customersIKEA Employee, May 2023

Best thing
I love my co-workers and my line managers are really nice and understanding. The company is also flexible with my university commitments.
Worst thing
Things aren’t often communicated well between management and people on the shop floor and updates to company policies and procedures aren’t directly discussed so there can be a lot of confusion when something changes.

Best thing
The job has its perks like the discounts for staff and having select access to jobs going up in store. The pay is good for a part time job too.
Worst thing
Management are the worst thing in IKEA, they belittle you and don't consider you have a life outside of work, they don't handle situations like bullying in the work place at all and constantly go against company policies. You'll have negative files on your record for being sick more than 3 times a year or even if you're a minute late to work and the reason is out of your control. Work rotas are on contract to be given 4 weeks in advance and we are only given 1-2 weeks in advance. Longer breaks are unpaid too.

Best thing
Everyday is different and interesting, once you know the role you can focus on specific tasks/areas you prefer, the value team work and because we hire based on values 99%of people are kind and friendly. They value learning and let us make mistakes to learn. Its a very positive environment and they are always looking to hire from within, train and unskilled and there are apprenticeships available on normal wage!
Worst thing
It can be stressful at times because its retail, if you have a great manager its a great job but some managers don't keep you as informed and are disorganised which can be stressful. Booking holiday a year in advance can be tough.
