Weekly pay.
Where to start...
Unorganised-I started in November and it took them till march to give me my uniform. People started after me got theirs before I did.
Discount- again...been there since November and still no card.
Cliquey-certain staff members (including managers) don't even acknowledge me because I'm not part of their group or type of people.
Contract- supposed to be seasonal, I thought it was supposed to end recently but it could be April it is due up..no one has spoken to me about it or mentioned it, I didn't know what to do about a holiday I need because I don't even know if I am being kept on after my contract ends, tried booking the holiday anyway to be told no.
Stress- this is by far the most stressful job I've ever had. High targets(pick rate has now went up to 183 or 186 per hour from 155), not enough time to complete them. I have multiple health issues, depression anxiety and IBS and constantly being pushed to 'go faster go faster keep going we've got to get these orders going, team leaders shouldn't have to be picking, yous really need to pick up the speed' has totally had a negative effect on me. Had a total breakdown on my most recent shift. Colleague caught me crying in the staff room.then they had the audacity to ask me to come in and work on my days off. You are not recognised when you are doing well. I was a slow starter to the original pick rate...it took me a while to squally start achieving it.But I eventually did, and was performing well. Green on the stat sheet every week, and now they've changed it. The management didn't even acknowledge how well I was doing, only spoke to my team about how bad we were doing and how it wasn't enough.Store moving around- same week pick rate goes up, they decide its a genius idea to move the whole store around, the HHT wasn't updated to the new layout, and none of the pickers could find where anything was located...cue pick rates falling while we looked for items.
Poor stock- half the time what you need for an order isn't there. Freezers are empty etc. So you are having to go and look for the items in the warehouse..upstairs...in the freezer etc. Taking time..pick rate falling again.
Customers- I like talking to customers, but if a customer stops you to talk to you...you are too busy worrying about your pick rate falling that you can't give them your full attention. It shouldn't be like this. The customer should always come first. Either that or all picking should be done before the shop opens.
The list goes on..honestly I really liked working there at first, it's a job that suits me in terms of hours, and the fact that I can be alone while I do it which helps my anxiety. But I honestly wouldn't recommend it to anyone. The stress isn't worth the pay.

Good pay for students and young people (£9.00 an hour). Flexible hours. Staff discount.
Poor management, disrespectful and u professional staff and managers, encouraged to not take breaks, lack of training / online training is disregarded, lack of support when asking for help or ringing till bells. All of the other staff may go on a break together and leave you alone on the shop floor, ignoring till bells, when it’s your second day.
