Best thing
Some managers are the best people you could have looking after you. It's rare you get one but if you do, they make your life a lot easier!
Worst thing
1) Higher ups aren't involved, have no idea what it's like working in the front line don't care about staff wellbeing, treat everyone as a statistic that makes them profit.
2) Bullying culture from more experienced members of staff against newer staff. Very clique-y.
3) Some managers have managerial experience but no subject knowledge. They put their own equally clueless team members on to cover referrals and questions that aren't coveted by our policy and it causes chaos.
4) Don't get paid enough considering I've made the bank millions in new mortgages, mortgage redemptions and payments.
5) Reluctant to take on feedback and act on it.
6) Unfair process to cover bank Holidays. Should shut if there's not enough staff to cover.
7) "Customer is always right" attitude and no sympathy or resilience training for staff when dealing with abusive customers.HSBC Employee, January 2023
