What employees are saying about Go Ape

Best thing
Fun and interesting role. Great working outside when weather is good. Meet some interesting people.
Worst thing
Head office don’t understand or appreciate how hard we work. Hours are varied, don’t know how long your day will be until it’s over and you don’t know when it’ll start until the day before. Long and lots of shifts in Summer but can have a real lack of work outside of that. Very short breaks that get interrupted at times. Have to rely on team for support, one or two people not pulling their weight can ruin your day and break opportunities. Customers can sometimes be very rude and head office don’t support how we’re treated yet they’re the ones on salary with regular secure pay.

Best thing
Outdoor, physically active, busy so days go quickly
Worst thing
Lack of communication from top down, failure to understand needs of staff, lack of customer engagement, Overly strict, progression is hard to come by, pay is awful for the hours and mental strain you put in, senior management will always fail to see the toll it takes physically and mentally.

Best thing
The team. Working outdoors. Flexible shifts. Lots of hours in the summer.
Worst thing
Unpaid 20 minute break that isn’t always guaranteed. Some managers unintentionally cause it to be shorter or split in half. Not enough hours off season. Physically demanding.
