Best thing
The team - we're like a little family and I love seeing them on days that I'm on shift
Getting free barista made drinks on shift + 2 bits of food for staff allowance
Not having a massively strict uniform policy, as long as your wearing a white / black top that don't show your armpits and black/ blue trousers you're good
I love making coffee and executing new latte artWorst thing
The hours given, if its a quiet day, your shift can go from an 8hr to a 6hr without much warning.
When closing, if you work longer than your allotted hours, you won't get paid (for my store that's 6pm M-F + Sun & 6:30pm on Sat) even if its been really busy and other staff members were sent home early.
You have to do training online, which generally takes 30min, but you get asked to do it at home and you won't get paid to do it
Gail's don't hire cleaners, so if someone makes a mess in the toilets someone from the team is nominated to clean itBarista at Gail's, March 2024

The best things are the out of store training they offer you. And their RISE with GAIL’s campaign that pushes promotions internally.

Best thing
The team members are all nice to work with.
Lots of free food and drinks.
Nights out paid by Gail'sWorst thing
Rota is always sent out 3, 4, 5 days before the rota starts. I am unable to make plans in my free time.
There is a disregard towards my mental health as they treat me as though I'm just a piece to their machine.
I've lost a £4000 of savings due to the consistent reduced hours, yet they still hire more staff on reduced hours. This has been going on for 6 months. Therefore, I've had to cancel holiday plans and at times I haven't been able to afford to pay rent, food ect.
We're still expected to work even though there are trip hazards due to work being done on the building.Baker at Gail's, July 2022
