Do EE pay sick pay?

Sometimes. Only some people get proper sick pay at EE.

Technology Retailers who pay sick pay include Canon, Richer Sounds and BT.

Last updated 26 March 2024

How we know this

Based on data from 69 people who took the Breakroom Quiz between September 2023 and March 2024.

51% of people say they wouldn’t get paid if they were sick but scheduled to work.

Why this matters

Everyone gets sick sometimes. You should be able to take time off without worrying.

At a good job you should still get paid if you’re scheduled to work but can’t due to sickness. Your contract should say how many sick days you can take each year.

This is more than the legal minimum, which says you should only get paid if you are unwell for 4 full days. See Citizens Advice for more details.

  • Best thing

The perks and benefits are amazing

    Worst thing

The management, they made you feel like its your fault the call queue is backed up if you take a sick day, the days can be draining and if you miss something on a sick day, you cant go back to catch up on it

  • Best thing

Close with the team that you work with.
Get to see the latest tech before anyone else.
Good pay if you have just come out of high school.

    Worst thing

Low pay rises or not at all.
People above manager level talk about everyone like they are idiots.
If the whole of EE didn't hit upgrade targets for a month, they blame the staff and not a national Lockdown.
If you are really sick the only way to stop getting harassed to come back into work is giving them your death certificate.

  • Best thing

    The pay

    Worst thing

Everything else. Management are horrendous, the wrong people get promoted so long as they suck up to the right people. If you’re off sick; you’re harassed by your manager. There’s no concept of mental health, and the atmosphere is toxic. I’ve been diagnosed with IBS since working there. The job is fine, it’s the management that make you physically and mentally ill
