Best thing
Client relationships, my team and colleagues, constant learning and growth of knowledge, in-house management team.
Worst thing
Workload and expectations, salary, demand and staffing pressures, communications from head office to practices.
CVS Group Employee, August 2023

Best thing
The team, the animals! Opportunity for progression, focus on wellbeing, regular check ins with management
Worst thing
Busy periods, how expensive services can be for clients, too few staff for the workload

Best thing
Line managers are understanding
Worst thing
Lack of support, line managers don’t have the tools to change anything to help suffering team members.
There’s no process to discuss difficult cases, or discuss concerns.
There’s a severe lack of training, and directors seem oblivious to staff morale.
Equipment is not fit for purpose, and nurses opinions are not valued. There is a lack of collaboration between services and team members.CVS Group Registered veterinary nurse, June 2022

Best thing
Great supportive team
Worst thing
Understaffed, poor management

Best thing
Certain members of the team are good to work with.
Worst thing
Head office and managers don’t listen to the staff that have more experience than they do in the job. Some managers come from different industry’s without knowledge and don’t listen to the advice of long time employees. You get promised one thing then they go back on it
CVS Group Supervisor, April 2022

Best thing
Working with animals, variation
Worst thing
Middle management demands and lack of understanding of the veterinary profession, having to watch your back before CVS decide to get rid of you on whatever trumped-up charge they choose, abusive clients getting away with shocking behaviour, I could go on.

Best thing
Driving. some of the people I work with.
Worst thing
No work life balance. Hardly ever do contracted hours, always expected to do overtime at basic rate. Critisized by management if we are not able to do extra work. Under staffed. Low paid for working in unsociable conditions and working very long hours. Not all staff treated the same.
