Do Budgens pay sick pay?

No. Most people don’t get proper sick pay at Budgens.

Last updated 11 March 2024

How we know this

Based on data from 45 people who took the Breakroom Quiz between May 2022 and March 2024.

89% of people say they wouldn’t get paid if they were sick but scheduled to work.

Why this matters

Everyone gets sick sometimes. You should be able to take time off without worrying.

At a good job you should still get paid if you’re scheduled to work but can’t due to sickness. Your contract should say how many sick days you can take each year.

This is more than the legal minimum, which says you should only get paid if you are unwell for 4 full days. See Citizens Advice for more details.

What people are saying about sick pay at Budgens

  • Best thing

Working in a smaller store with a small team makes it have a family aspect. Everyone i work with is really lovely, and i was made to feel very welcomed.

    Worst thing

Though i love the smaller staff amount it can be difficult if you’re ever unwell. Some shifts only two people are on to work and if someone phones in sick it’s mayhem! You’re made to feel as though you shouldn’t phone in sick. Also, i work full time hours sometimes despite only being contracted 16, theyre unstaffed and you’re expected to have a lot of responsibility! It can be a rush, too many things to do and not enough people!
