What are retail store and shop managers saying about pay at Boots?

  • Best thing

The pay, easy enough to swap shifts/take holidays

    Worst thing

Lack of flexibility with contract while I’m at university, no HR that is accessible to employees (has to go through a manager)

  • Best thing

It’s nice to be able to help people and it’s satisfying to do good sales.
    The pay is decent.

    Worst thing

I work as the only person in the whole boots store on SATURDAYS, besides the 1/2 people working in the shop pharmacy, they are to busy to assist me. The amount to do is unmanageable and customers and constantly frustrated by long queues and the lack of assistance, and all is taken out on me. The shoplifting is insane and make the environment feel very unsafe and incredibly unpleasant. No security guard and the manager of the store is barely around leaving her employed staff rushed of their feet. The shop is dingy, kinda smelly and filthy despite my best efforts to clean it in the little time I’m not dealing with rude customers.

    Short staffed.
Rotas done short notice and often get changed anyway.
Doing more than what is expected in job role and getting no more money.
