What is the minimum wage for 16‑year‑olds?

The National Minimum Wage is currently £4.81 for 16-year-olds.

The current minimum wage for anyone aged 16 years old is £4.81 per hour. This will increase to £5.28 from April 1st 2023.

The minimum wage is exactly that, it's the minimum you should be getting paid. However, there are lots of employers who pay 16-year-olds the same as those over 23 (also known as the National Living Wage)

Employers such as Argos, Asda & Marks & Spencer all pay 16-year-olds the same as those over 23.

Use Breakroom to find a job that pays all ages fairly.
